Bathroom Remodeling in Wylie, TX & the DFW Area

Tile showers, tub-to-shower conversions, vanities and floors — with real cost ranges published up front and an itemized quote before anything comes out.

What It Costs, Before You Call Anyone

Most bathroom remodeling pages make you give up a phone number to find out whether you are looking at a $9,000 project or a $45,000 one. That is a sales tactic, not a limitation — the ranges are knowable, and knowing them is how you tell a fair quote from a bad one. So here they are first.

We handle bathroom remodels start to finish across Wylie, Plano, Sachse, Murphy, Garland, Rowlett and Rockwall — tile showers, floors, vanities, demolition, painting, and the trades in between. The tile and waterproofing is the part we are known for, and it is also the part that decides whether your bathroom is still sound in fifteen years.

Cosmetic refresh

$6,000 – $12,0005–8 working days

New floor, vanity, mirror, lighting, paint and fixtures. The existing shower or tub stays where it is and stays as it is. The highest-return bathroom project there is, and the one most people actually need.

Standard bath, new tile shower

$15,000 – $30,0002–3 weeks

Everything above plus the shower rebuilt to the studs, properly waterproofed, and tiled. Fixtures stay in their existing locations, which is what keeps this tier from becoming the next one.

Primary suite

$30,000 – $60,0003–5 weeks

Large custom shower with niche and bench, double vanity, premium or large-format tile, frameless glass. Often a tub-to-shower conversion or a garden tub removed entirely.

Full gut, layout moved

$60,000+5+ weeks

Walls or fixture locations change. Adds slab work, permits and inspections — see the note on moving drains below, because that one decision drives more of the budget than any tile you pick.

Line-Item Pricing

Useful if you are pricing a partial project, or checking a quote you already have against something.

2026 DFW ranges, consistent with our full bathroom remodel cost guide. They are starting points for a conversation, not a quote — the only number that means anything is the itemized one written after someone has stood in your bathroom.

The One Decision That Moves the Budget Most

It is not the tile. It is whether the plumbing moves.

Almost every home we work in across Collin, Dallas and Rockwall counties is slab-on-grade, which means the drains for your toilet, shower and sink are cast into concrete. Leaving them where they are keeps a project in the tiers above. Moving them means saw-cutting the slab, trenching, re-plumbing, re-pouring and almost always a permit and inspection — roughly $3,000 to $8,000 before a single tile is set.

There is a second wrinkle specific to newer builds here: many post-2000 DFW slabs are post-tensioned, with steel cables under tension running through the concrete. You cannot simply cut one. Those slabs have to be scanned first to locate the tendons, and a cut in the wrong place is a structural repair, not an oops. So the first question we ask in any layout conversation is whether what you want actually requires the drain to move — because very often a smarter layout gets you ninety percent of the result with the drains staying put.

The Right Way to Build a Tile Shower

Tile showers are beautiful — but they require meticulous waterproofing and installation to last without leaking. We've seen the aftermath of shower leaks caused by improper installation: water damage behind walls, mold, and expensive repairs.

Our process uses professional waterproofing membranes (like Schluter Kerdi or RedGard) applied to all surfaces before tile goes up. We set tile in the proper mortar, grout with quality products, and seal all joints and grout lines properly. The result is a shower that's as waterproof as it is beautiful — and built to last decades.

Do You Actually Need a Full Remodel?

Often not, and it is worth ten seconds of honesty before you spend twenty thousand dollars. Three genuinely different projects get called “a bathroom remodel”:

  • Only the floor has failed. Cracked tile, vinyl peeling at the tub, laminate swollen around the toilet — but the shower and vanity are fine. That is a one-to-three-day floor-only job with the toilet pulled and reset, not a renovation. See bathroom flooring installation.
  • Only the shower has failed. A 1990s mortar-bed pan that has started weeping, grout you cannot get clean, or a garden tub nobody has used since the kids left. That is a shower project — see shower remodeling and tub-to-shower conversions.
  • The room is dated end to end, or you want the layout changed. That is this page, and the tiers above are your ranges.

We quote whichever one is actually true. If you call about a full remodel and what you need is a floor, we will tell you that at the estimate — it is the smaller sale and the right answer, and it is the reason people call us back for the bigger job later. For design direction and real Plano-specific examples, our bathroom remodel ideas guide covers what works in this region's housing stock, and the small bathroom guide covers the secondary baths that make up most of the work here.

Bathroom Remodeling FAQs

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in DFW?

Enough of the number is knowable up front that we would rather tell you than make you call. A cosmetic refresh — floor, vanity, paint, fixtures, existing shower left alone — generally runs $6,000 to $12,000. A full secondary bathroom with a new tile shower lands around $15,000 to $30,000. A primary suite with a large custom shower, double vanity and premium tile is usually $30,000 to $60,000, and a full gut with a moved layout goes above that. The single biggest swing factor is whether plumbing moves: relocating a toilet, shower or sink drain adds roughly $3,000 to $8,000 because it means opening the slab. Every quote is itemized line by line.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?

A cosmetic refresh is usually 5 to 8 working days. A standard bathroom with a new tile shower runs 2 to 3 weeks. A primary suite is 3 to 5 weeks. Those are working timelines, not calendar promises — the honest variables are tile lead time, whether a fixture you picked is backordered, and inspection scheduling if the job is permitted. Waterproofing and mortar also need real cure time, and that is not a step anyone should compress to hit a date.

Do you install custom tile showers, and how do you waterproof them?

Yes — tile shower work is the core of what we do, from simple tub surrounds to floor-to-ceiling walk-in showers with niches, benches and custom patterns. Waterproofing is done with a professional bonded membrane system such as Schluter Kerdi or a liquid-applied membrane like RedGard, installed over the full wet area before any tile goes up. That membrane is the entire ballgame: it is the part you never see, it is where failures actually originate, and it is the first thing a cheap quote leaves out.

Can you convert a tub to a walk-in shower?

Yes, and it is one of the most common projects we do — particularly in homes where the primary bath has both a garden tub nobody has used in a decade and a cramped shower next to it. We remove the tub, rebuild and waterproof the pan area, and tile a proper walk-in shower with a glass enclosure if you want one. Worth knowing before you commit: if the house has only one tub, removing it can matter to some buyers at resale. We will raise that with you rather than after.

Do I need a permit, and do you pull it?

A like-for-like cosmetic remodel usually does not need one. Anything that moves plumbing or alters electrical typically does, and the requirements differ by city — Garland, for instance, runs its own contractor registration and its own utility. When a permit is required we handle it and build the inspection schedule into the timeline. If a contractor tells you a drain relocation needs no permit, treat that as information about the contractor.

Will you work around us if we only have one bathroom?

Yes, and it changes how we sequence the job. In a one-bathroom house we stage the work so the room is out of service for the shortest possible stretch rather than the whole project — demo and rough-in happen together, and we do not start tearing out until the materials are physically on site. Tell us at the estimate that it is your only bathroom; it genuinely changes the plan.

Do you offer financing for bathroom remodels?

Yes — 12-month interest-free financing on qualifying bathroom remodels, which spreads a larger renovation across a full year with no interest charges.
