Laminate Flooring: Beautiful, Durable, and Budget-Friendly
Laminate flooring has evolved dramatically in recent years. Today's laminate products replicate the look and texture of real hardwood, stone, and tile with remarkable realism — and they do it at a fraction of the cost.
If you want the warmth and beauty of wood floors but need to watch your budget, laminate is an excellent choice. It's also more scratch-resistant than many hardwoods and holds up well in homes with children and pets.
At Home Flooring Solutions installs laminate throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area — from Wylie and Sachse to Plano and Rockwall. We work with leading laminate brands and can help you find the right product for your lifestyle and budget.

What Makes a Good Laminate Floor?
When choosing laminate, we advise our customers to focus on AC rating (abrasion class), thickness, and attached underlayment:
- AC3 Rating: Minimum recommended for residential use. Good for moderate traffic areas.
- AC4 Rating: Recommended for high-traffic residential and light commercial use.
- Thickness (8mm–12mm): Thicker laminate feels more solid, hides subfloor imperfections, and sounds better underfoot.
- Attached Underlayment: Built-in foam backing adds cushion, reduces sound transmission, and simplifies installation.
Laminate Installation in Texas: What to Know
Laminate can be sensitive to moisture — more so than LVP. In Texas, this means we pay extra attention to subfloor moisture levels before installation, especially in slab-on-grade homes. We use appropriate moisture barriers where needed and follow manufacturer guidelines to ensure your floor performs as intended.
Laminate is not recommended for bathrooms or other areas with frequent water exposure. For those areas, we typically recommend LVP or tile. However, for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and dining areas, laminate is an outstanding value.
