See the Floor in Your Own Room First

Upload a photo of the actual room and try floors in it before anyone measures anything. Free, no account, nothing to install.

What It Actually Does

Photographs in a catalogue are shot in someone else's room, under someone else's light, against someone else's cabinets. That is why a floor you loved in a showroom photo can look wrong the day it goes down in your house. The visualizer removes that guess: you give it a photo of your own room and it swaps the floor out, so you are comparing options against your own walls, your own trim and your own windows.

It runs on Roomvo, and every brand we carry is in it — so whatever you find on our products page can be put on your floor before you commit to it. It has also been sitting in the bottom-right corner of every page on this site the whole time. Most people never notice it, which is the reason this page exists.

Getting a usable photo

  • Stand at the doorway and shoot straight into the room, not at an angle.
  • Get as much of the floor in frame as you can — corners help it read the shape.
  • Daylight beats a ceiling light. Turn lamps off if you can.
  • Move what you can. It handles furniture, but a clear floor gives a cleaner result.

What It Gets Right, and What It Cannot

Worth being straight about, because the limits are the useful part. A visualizer is very good at the decisions people get wrong from a catalogue: whether a floor is too dark for a north-facing room, whether the plank should run with the long wall or across it, whether a grey plank fights your cabinets or settles next to them. Those are genuine decisions and this will settle them in ten minutes.

What it cannot show you is sheen, texture and scale. A matte wire-brushed oak and a semi-gloss smooth one can look nearly identical on a screen and feel like different products underfoot. Plank width reads differently at full size than it does scaled into a phone photo. And no screen reproduces how a color shifts under your own lighting at four in the afternoon in August — which, in North Texas, is a real variable.

So use it the way we do: narrow twenty options to three on screen, then take those three home from the Wylie showroom and live with them for a couple of days. The visualizer saves you the first eighteen decisions. The samples decide the last one.

Common Questions

How do I use the floor visualizer?

Use the Open the Floor Visualizer button on this page, or the widget in the bottom-right corner of any page on this site. Take a photo of the room straight on, upload it, and pick a floor. It replaces the floor in your photo so you can compare options side by side against your own walls, cabinets and light.

Do I need to measure anything first?

No. The visualizer is for looks, not for quantities. Measuring is our job and it happens at the free in-home estimate, because square footage alone does not decide a quote — waste factor, layout, transitions and what is under the old floor all move the number.

Is what I see on screen exactly what I will get?

No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. A visualizer gets layout, plank direction and broad color relationships right. It cannot show you sheen, texture underfoot, the real scale of a plank, or how a color shifts under your own lighting at four in the afternoon. Those are the things that decide whether you like a floor in two years, and they are why we keep samples you can carry home.

Can I take samples home instead?

Yes, and we would rather you did both. Use the visualizer to narrow twenty options down to three, then come to the Wylie showroom and take those three home. Look at them in the actual room, in daylight and at night, before you decide.
